do you have a cvt? how long has yours lasted?

l have a shallow mount CVT 12'' 400 RMS (800 MAX) l dunno if it is a different model but l bought it with a factory box & one night l overpowered it & l could smell burnt voice coil but l heard that is OK it just means that the paint is melting & its more like a warning. It has been 6 months & l am starting to notice a change in the sound of the bass. There is definitely something wrong. When l poke the sub around the edges in a circle l hear a difference, like a hollow sound to a thud sound once l reach the other side of the woofer. It might have something to do with the winter cold or maybe the woofer was hitting the bottom of my seat? (It is pointing up under the back seat of a Ford F-150) l do not thing it was a bad investment because it only cost me $130 brand new from Amazon. Wow l hope my ramblings help.

Continuously Variable automatic Transmission or CVT. many last over 200 thousand miles & l have seen failures with as few as 3,000 miles. Not intended to tow any trailers l have seen trailer hitches on Nissan Muranos & at 60,000 miles a CVT issue. Depending on how it is driven those CVT trans last just as long as a Regular automatic trans with 3, 4 or 5 forward gears. Advantages of the CVT is the motor runs with in its correct rpms car gets better fuel economy as a result. And CVT has fewer moving parts. Please buy an extended warranty if ur worried about the replacement cost of a gear box.
