When l press down on the accelerator,and the engine revs up to 1000 rpms, l can hear a rattle coming from the engine somewhere......its like something is loose or touching something....it happens right at 1000 rpm.... l just had the engine mount replaced, but could this be related to that... please advise...

Just a safety tip.if u race ur engine at 1000 rpm is sittin still, u might end up with a loud backfire, the car will die..and be vapor locked. It will release, but might take a bit before it will start again.. what happens is u r racing the motor ,if ur sitting still the motor is on overload..(not able to release exhaust as easily as if u were driving) the exhaust backs up in the motor causing a vapor lock. You risk popping a hole in one of the pistons.

As far as the rattle. l would check all the guards, the one on the starter if there is one to see if it might have gotten bent when they installed the motor mount.sometimes there is an aluminum guard on the manifold, check that..if any of these r real close to what it is protecting.vibration from the motor could cause them to viberate. check any metal lines that r close together to see if they might have been pushed closer together during the MM installation.

To check the MM.start ur car.everything quiet.and just tap the foot feed.several times..you know, gun it so to speak.listen for a ''clunk if u hear that u should recheck the bolts on the MM.

There r alot of things that could rattle on a vehicle..you just have to physically touch everything to check.its agrivating.

Sure could. If there were no rattle beforehand, then it is not improper to suspect that it might be the fault of the mechanics. Might not, too.

l have two ideas on what it might be:
#1 In any front-wheel drive car there is not a lot of room to work. It is possible they had to remove a lot of stuff to get at the problem, & in replacing parts did not tighten something down. This might make any rattling sound from a metallic tap to a soft buzz to clunking.
#2. It may be the shroud (heat cover) around the catalytic converter on ur exhaust pipe. This makes a sound like a rapid buzzing or even a ringing buzz.

My advice is to go back to the shop & tell them of the new noise in ur car & ask them to listen to it. If it is the heat shroud, then they will know it right away. As this happens a lot when cars get older (like 60-120,000+ miles), they do not necessarily have to fix this unless they took it off or moved it, in which case they might be able to fix it with a screwdriver in 5 minutes. How long ago they did the work, if they affected this part, & how long they warranty their work may determine their responsibility. Good luck.

nissan has recall on this problem,its the heat shield on the exhaust manifold.and it doesnt hurt the engine to rev the engine 1000 rpm.thats not very high.never heard of a vapor lock in a fuel injected car.
