So the paddle shifters on cars like the Nissan GT-R is pretty much like the semi-automatic in most recent cars, right? Will the Nissan GT-R have manual stick shifter in the future?

GTR has dual clutch transmission, it can work like automatic but its way beyond performance, it shift gear less than a second way faster a manual can shift. Its kinda like paddle shifter like ferrari. And no they wont make manual transmission.

semi automatic is a automatic except you change gear yourself without need of stepping the clutch. No point at all and they lags.

You know what the Bugatti Veyron is right? Well the kind of transmission that the Veyron uses is a 7 speed ''sequential'' transmission.

Basically what it does is have two clutches - one for the even numbered gears & one for the odd numbered gears. What it does is shift for u depending on throttle position and/or speed (like an automatic) but instead it does it ''sequentially'' without even a second is pause.

There r two clutches anyway, so while one of them is in gear, the other one is already ready to slip the next gear in place. Think of it as. u & 2 other friends placing ur hands on top of each others one at a time as quickly as possible.

There is no rest or fidgeting in between u or ur friends, so u place hands over hands pretty quickly to make a pile of hands. That is basically what sequential shifting is. Uses two clutches to make sure that the next gear is ready to slip in as soon as possible.

The GT-R has sequential shifting. It is fast. Pretty damn fast. It will be as if u were in a shuttle - there is no pull back feeling or anything like that. Ever ride the ''Accelerator'' from Six Flags? Think of it like that. Just constant speed without pause.

That is sequential shifting.

The person above gave a great answer.just adding a point that even just Manual is great ,but do not overlook many more modern auto transmission on my cars,myself drive an Auto Skyline which is offers rapid changes way faster than l could do manually & the power is instant with no hesitation & with added controls if needed like a power button for redline changes & a rev hold button & overdrive all adds to a fun experience,but normal driving the power is that fast around town these controls r not needed.
So often auto is overlooked but auto is differ so much on carsand l realised this after owning two skyline auto is & driving an auto mk4 supra,Mitsubishi 3000gt & a auto impreza & legend & merc.

GTR is not a semi automatic it has two clutches that engage either by computer and shifter location or with the Manual Operation of the paddles. Next Years GTR Spec V will have Stick Shift And much more power. And higher over all cost. So get your orders in place a down payment 20% or $20,000 to secure your early delivery.

l do not have to say it again, everyone has already stated it is a dual clutch, & not a semi-auto. Let me tell u from someone who actually drives one - if u put it in manual mode, it is just as good as a stick shift. It has all the same feel (except u shift with paddles), & u do not have a clutch. Heavy traffic? Put it in auto mode.

Next year is Spec V (or V Spec) model is NOT expected to have a manual gearbox, & as it stands right now it is unfortunately lacking in the extra power that l & alot of people were expecting. l have been seeing things that pretty much point to ''expect to be somewhat disappointed by the V Spec''. And right now, it is NOT expected to even make it to the U.S.

It will take alot for the GT-R to get offered with the stick shift.
