1,2, and 3 do not work. There is no sound at all when l turn it on, and i've read that (for the newer models, at least) it is a bad blower motor resistor. three questions: where is the blower motor resistor, and how do l change the resistor? and does the fact that my nissan is a 1998 change anything?

Might want to look here . there was a pretty good write-up of how to do it. Seems to be an easy fix.

If you go to Auto Zone they will sell you the part and give you all the info on how and where to install it.

Blower motor is under the glove box follow the wires to the resister which is in the blower or A/C case and held in place with 2 #2 phillips screws. Easy 10 minutes tops and you do not have to take anything apart to get to the resistor. unplug un bolt and replace. Good luck
