Well took the 01 Xterra to Auto Zone to have a error read. It came back P0500 (what most of you thought it would be) Vehicle Speed Sensor. l ordered the sensor ($180) and it should be here tomorrow.l was reading a bit more about it (and even got an e-mail from one of you) it might not really be the sensor sensor, but a chip in the speedometer?? Should l have evaluated the problem a bit more before going ahead and ordering the sensor??Also, l found the sensor... however have not traced down where the plug is located at. Anyone give any information or is it a case of start at the sensor and just work backwards?

which wheel speed sensor are you replacing ????

speed sensor is very possible, when they fail they are usually hard to spin by hand, harness connector is about 10'' up on trans harness. if still does not work the speedohead will need replacing, when ordered from dealer we have the milage clocked back to your miles. speed sensor was a special order so you probably couldnt return any ways. hope this helps
