k so im looking at getting one and im seeing like s13, s14,s15 and something about a red somthing l dont have the word in front of me l saw it on some other site and forget what it exactly said and what is the differences between that and where do those differences come in
no not really just a 16 year old looking for somthing fast to race ... any other suggestions ??

s13, s14, s15 those r the jap names for the 240/ silvia they just change over the years like s13 is the older model & so on. They have different front ends compared to the us models & the motors r different. im assuming that red thing u say was the sr20 red top motor that comes in the jap models. if ur purchasing an america one ur going to have that the crapy k motor in there so a swap is something u might want to think about. lol & s15 is the silvia u prolly wont even come across one of those. r u looking to drift?

S13, S14 & S15 refer to chassis codes, not the Japanese names. The U.S. only sold the S13 & S14 chassis. The S13 was available as a couple, hatchback & in 1994, a convertible. (All convertibles were sold as automatics.) The S14 was a couple only model.

1989-1990 S13 is r refered to as ''Zenki's'' (Japanese terminology for early model) & 1991-1994 were refered to as ''Kouki'' or late model. In Japan, the S13 hatch was produced till about 1998 & had a ''Chuki'' reference, being mid model. (The U.S. Kouki model hatch was the Chuki model in Japan)

All U.S. models of the S13 had pop-up headlights where as only the hatchback had them in Japan. The coupe was a fixed sealed beam in 1989 & 1990, then two projector head lights from 1991-1992, & a three projector light from 1993-1994.

The S14 only had Zenki (1995-1996) & Kouki (1997-1998). There was no convertibe model.

Physical differences r few, being different headlights & tail lights. Head lights in the early model were more rounded, the late model, a more straight edge, Skyline inspired look.

Engines were basically the same from 1991 to 1998. The only exception was 1989-1990. Those years had a single overhead cam engine where as the 1991 & on used a twin cam set up. KA24E & KA24DE respectively.

The red u r refering to is most likely an SR20DET engine, which was only available in the Japanese Silvia/180SX (the coupe & hatchback).

l could go through specs etc but links r more exact & will offer u good advice also try the sx forums as owners will offer u the best advice u can get.
Myself had the UK spec 200sx s13 which is the US 180sx which had the ca18det engine great rwd turbo fun.
Common mods to these cars r the sr20det engine or the RB26dett engines.
