It is not bad for ur engine, but is a waste of ur money.

The only difference between premium fuel & regular fuel is the octane rating.

The octane rating is the fuel is resistance to spontaneous combustion under compression. The higher the octane rating, the more compression it takes to make the fuel spontaneously combust.

A high compression engine requires higher octane fuel to prevent detonation. Detonation is a condition where the fuel air mixture ignites while being compressed before the spark plug fires. Detonation can cause serious internal damage to an engine.

Your 2007 Altima 2.5 liter engine has a 9.5 to 1 compression ratio. You do not really need to use a higher octane fuel until u go over 10 to 1 compression.

The higher octane fuel will not make ur car run any better or last any longer. You r only giving the oil companies more money than u need to. l think they make enough money already.

Actually it may help your car engine as it is lead content is very low. It is helpful to the engine but may not be cost effective with the current gas prices.

You can use any fuel except for Diesel.

For Premium powered cars, you cannot use regular of midgrade.

But regular powered cars can use any gas with no problems.
But using premium in your Altima will not help make the car last longer or get better gas mileage.
Premium gas just adds some power to your car while you use it. 1 to 5HP .

Read section 9 page# 3 in the owners hand book. Your twenty gallon tank will thank you realizing that 87 octane can be used in the 2.5 liter motor with out any harm. Also you using more expensive fuel did not hurt a thing. You might want to ween it off with a tank of midgrade.
