which one is the best a 2006 gto or a 2006 350z

The GTO is more practical and accelerates faster. It is easier to drive and cheaper to fix. You have to pay the gas tax for having a V8 engine.

The 350z handles better and has the same top speed and is more fun to drive. It gets better gas mileage.

Both have very high insurance costs.

On the track in stock condition, l would take the Z car. If you need a performance car for the street, the GTO would probably be easier for even a novice to accelerate quickly but would be a bulkier car in the turns.

350Z hands down

Put it this way, Look at the engine size. The Z is a 3.5 (new is 3.7) and the gto is a 6.0. The GTO has nearly twice the motor, but the Z performs better. A SMALL difference in 1/4 mile times is not justification. The Z is a driver is car, and a driver makes it fast. The GTO is a Detroit Dinosaur, and a poor excuse for a sports car.

l have a 2006 GTO-made by GM of Australia. Great interior-reasonably good handling/4.7 sec to 60. Destroys 350Zs in a straight line-may have some problems in the twisties but on sweepers-the Z loses. Out of production now-rare compared to the Z. Individual choices always win-you should test drive both.
