l was wondering if anyone knew if this going out would cause car to not shift into gears on it is own? It is an automatic, l was test driving it that was owned by a tranny shop that the guy could not pay the bill, so they were selling to recoup money. l absolutely love maxima is and this will be my 4th in 25 years of driving. 2 of the previous 4 were wrecked or they'd still be going strong. When l was test driving, it was stalling at 15 and then would kick over to higher speed and stuck again at 45. l told them l would not buy like that, he'd have to fix. Now they think it is transmission cylinoid. My thought is why was not that done when they rebuilt first time? it is a sweet ride and so l am thinking with a 6 month warranty still safe to buy, but l do not know much about that part to know if that would cause it.

It has been my experence transmission shops have trouble making the Nissan 4 speed electronic work properly. If the torque converter is malfunctioning the engine may stall at low speed. Make sure there is a real title for the car and tell the trans shop to make the gear box shift before you take the car.
