l have a 2003 Nissan 350z. l had a uni-chip installed in it about a year ago, and it caused a lot of problems in the car, and recently l was told that l should take out the uni-chip. Since the mechanic that installed it guaranteed me no problems, he said that since there were problems l can pick any part and he will put it in the car. l asked to have headers installed, but the mechanic has told me that headers wo not do anything in my car and that l should pick a new part, however, i've been meaning to get headers for a while, and now, I am not so sure if l should. Is the mechanic right? What part should l get instead for the car OR is the mechanic just saying this because he does not wanna install the new headers? What would headers do? I am a girl so bare with me..l dont know much about cars but l want a fast one!!!!

get the headers, he probably dont wanna go through the trouble of putting em on, that or they are more expensive than the chip and he dont wanna loose money. after the headers get the cold air intake and it should put some hp down. besides he said the chip wont give you problems and it did so what dose he know. if he dont wanna put the headers get the cold air.

Those cars already have headers so replacing them with another would do little.

Just today they had a TV show where they replace few performance parts to 2004 350z. They replace (1) intake (2) air plenum gapper (3) cat back system. In total they got 17 new HP.

Of those l saw, l think switching to COLD air intake was a bad idea. It would require taking off the bumper to replace (clean) the air filter. The the air intake plenum sounds questionable (and also require new cross beams).

So l woulds say go with new exhaust cat back system.

P.S. The host did say that many times, on these new high tech cars, poorly designed performance parts will hurt it more than help it. That is because the factory already designed their parts BETTER than aftermarket companies can.

He just does not want to install the headers which is easier with the transmission removed. Headers Random Technology high flow cat converters Stillen or Greedy exhaust & cold air intake u can Dyno tune almost 290 hp out of that car rear wheel HP! that is almost 45 more than stock. l also say throw away that unichip air temp spoof.
Things to do with the trans removed include stronger pressure plate lightweight flywheel & dual surface clutch disk. l am full of expensive ideas any my customers thank me for them. Like suspension techniques sway bars front & rear that is one of the first modifications l would do.
