When sitting in my car in park or in traffic the idle is at 500 rpm then starts to slowly sputter down like it wants to turn off, but does not thank god!It is a rough idling from 500 to lower then back to 500 rpmsany help or thoughts would be great.
found out it was the intake filter came off and that cleared the problem!!! thanks everyone..

With today is computer controlled cars, it could be a host of things.

Try running some injector cleaner through the car. If this does not work, then have a repair shop check ur computer codes. This will tell if the computer controlled sensors & switches r in proper order.

When was the last tune up done? Air filter replaced? O2 sensors could be bad, could be a vacuum problem. Or a low pressure fuel pump problem. Even a bad steering pump, alternator etc. Air conditioning pump. If they r causing drag on the engine due to a bad bearing they can do this.

My car does the same thing.

What is happening is that the power of the engine is going to the electricity that powers the radio and the A/C.

To make it so that your idling speed is higher, you need to take it to the shop and they will raise the idling rpm.

You do not need to fix it. It kind of saves gas and it does not hurt the car.

Take it to your local parts store and let them run a diagnostic on the cars computer. Its free and only takes 30 secs.
