fix the problem then use an obd 2 scanner to clear the code, no other way.

You can disconnect the negative battery terminal, it will reset the Check Engine Light. However it may come back on soon.

On most hondas you push the trip odometer button and hold it for ten seconds-do not know if it will work on nissan but it only takes 10 seconds to find out-also try chevron fuel injector cleaner-if cheap gas is the cause -cleaner every few months will fix that

Check the gas cap. My 04 sentra spec v with the same engine has this issue. Uncscrew the gas cap and screw it back on, make sure it clicks three times. This should solve your problem.

Cars with controller area networking CAN have codes stored in more than one place up to seven computers all talk to each other. So l reccomend repairing the cause of the check engine light first. Only a Good technician at Nissan can completely test your cars systems. There is not a wire the owner can unplug to clear the engine codes. And there is no GENERIC scanner that can test all the other Nissan systems.

You can disconnect the battery for about 5 mins and it will temporarily reset the ecu, but soon as it detects the problem again, it will return. Even if you have autozone reset it, it will come back again. Just have them check the codes and just fix the problem. It may be something simple. Also if it came off after you re-fueled, check your gas cap and make sure its on right.
