In 1998, l had a 1994 Nissan Sentra that did the same thing. l spent over $3000 trying to fix it, but never figured out what was wrong with it. Mine was a stick shift (do not know about yours or if it is relevant) Maybe you could take it for a diagnostic test.mine never showed anything being wrong, but maybe now the computers are more sophisticated and might actually be able to detect the problem. Happened to me with a rented 8-passenger van. It was the fuel pump, in my case.

Could also be fuel filter, a hole in the fuel line, engine somehow not getting any oxygen (that would be weird, though), and probably several other things.

There is a recall for ECM (computer) failure. Have you had this recall done? If not that might be your problem. There is also a recall for Camshaft Position Sensors. Both of these could cause the engine to die and not start. Check with a Nissan dealer to see if you have any open recalls on your car. Just give them the VIN# and they can tell you. Could also be a fuel pump failure or fuel pump fuse blown.
