The dealer wants$12,000 for this car and it has 98k miles and a clean carfax and only one owner. The car drives strong and smooth, but I am not sure if its too many miles for this car.

That is about 20k miles a year, which does seem a bit steep for a sports car. I'd just make sure everything is mechanically sound before purchasing it.

Its a lot, but allowable. Try getting the dealer to drop his price as you are anxious about the mileage. Never pay the asking price.

l really do not know how to answer that one, The 350z is still a rather new car. It has not been around long enough to know whats common on happening to them at high miles. As far as $12,000 l do not know what to say either. We do not know what package it has the condition of the car. Its not like ur buyin a motor for 12k, ur buying a hole car. l guess l see it differently because l am good with a wrench. But If u do l would have the timing belt replaced & other things that the owners manual says to replace at that mileage or see what the previous mechanical history looks like. Was the timing belt already replaced, a lot of cars say to have them changed at 70k. Basically we need more information to give u a solid answer.

l just bought a 2007 grand touring edition 350z, white with the white frost leather interior in immaculate condition. The car only had 17,213 miles when l purchased & was certified pre-owned. The dealer was asking 22,888 & l paid 18,500 not counting tax, title etc. Point is the car you're talking about is 4 years older with about 81,000 more miles for only $6,500 less. Nissans r durable cars, my last one went well over 100,000 miles but u need to talk that dealer down. It also depends on what type of z the car is, enthusiast, touring, grand touring, roadster.the price range is very different for each one. Good luck, l love my z

yeah l think its kind of high but that engine has been voted one of the top engines for 5 or so years, l have a 2003 G35 wich is basicly the same motor with 90k miles and it runs like it has 0 miles frsh of the lot, l love that car!

100k miles is not too much for any car as new as 2003.

It will last at least another 100,000 miles.

100k in about 6 years is a ton. Thats over 16k/year. Average is 12-15k. Sports cars are usually even lower than that.

l wouldnt pay anywhere near that much.

l would avoid it personally. l tend to be anal about little issues that pop up here & there. The 370z is coming out next year most likely. That will finally cause the prices of the 350s to come down a bit.

$12k & likely no warranty. You probably will have to replace the tires & brakes. Sensors generally go after 60k miles, other things go at 100k. l say it all depends on how meticulous the previous owner was. Did they keep the car in a garage, wax it regularly, park away from carts of death.. ;)

Still l would try & get them down to 10-11k. l hope u do not live in the northeast too, because if u do u will want some snow or all season tires on there when the weather gets bad. You would not believe the number of threads I've seen online of people who totaled their Zs in bad weather because of the tires combined with the abundance of power.

Get someone who is knowledgeable with these cars to help u check it out if you're in doubt. Perhaps ask someone from a local forum, or a friend who is a mechanic?
