l recently purchased a 2001 nissan sentra gxe and l only have the valet key. l need another key so l have a spare in case l lose the key. The car was purchased from a private seller and they cant find the other copy. It has power doors/locks, so l assume they lost the key with the keyless entry. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

just take it to home depot or lowes or westlakes and give thm the key and they can make copys of it 4 u.

Could not home depot copy it for you? l do not see why not.

You will have to go to a nissan dealer so they can copy it.Do not copy the key at a hardware store because there is a chip inside the key and it will mess up your anti-theft system.

Go to a Nissan dealership, they will cut a key based on the Vin# of the car. Go to the parts and service dept.

you have to check if the key has a chip in it. the chip is used as a security for when you need to turn on the car. if you have a copy of the key and you it doesnt have the chip, it wont turn on. those keys are usually kind of bulky from the handle research on nit. if it doesnt have a chip, just go to wal mart and they can make copies for you.

any nissan dealer should be able to get you a copy.. if you have a newer nissan, you actually have to go to a nissan dealer because most of the newer nissans have a chip in the key that make it impossible to start the car with that key unless it has the chip in it

Your best shot is Nissan Dealership Buy two remotes and have two regular keys code cut for your car. If you want to program the remotes your self l can send you directions E-mail me (jp.hudsonsbcglobal.net) Some sentras were imobilizer (chip) keys) those have to be programed at Nissan.

Very Few (if any) 2001 Nissan Sentras have a transponder chip inside the key. The valet key for this vehicle is thicker than a normal key but any hardware store or walmart should be able to copy it.

For the Keyless Entry you should be able to purchase a replacement online and program it yourself.
